Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G XFF Edition Unboxing and First Impressions

In recent years, Xiaomi's Redmi Note Series has consistently delivered exceptional value for its price, earning a reputation as a powerhouse in the smartphone market. And it looks like they won't disappoint again with the release of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G. Today, we'll be checking out the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G XFF Edition, a limited version of this smartphone.

So without further ado, let's unbox this phone and see what Redmi has in store for us.

Unboxing  The phone comes in Xiaomi's signature white box with the image on the cover; you're given a hint on what the phone would look like.

Lifting the lid, you'd be greeted with a smaller white box containing the flexible case you can use to protect your phone, some 2024 Xiaomi Fan Festival stickers, a SIM ejector pin, and manuals.

After removing those from the box, you'll then reveal the phone.

Getting it out of the box, I excitedly flipped it over to see its Mystic Silver colorway, which looks dazzling.

Looking at the bottom of it, you'll get to see the iconic Xiaomi Fan Fest (XFF) emblem. This makes the design more unique and deems this to be a collector's item, especially for Xiaomi fans, as this symbolizes the Xiaomi Fan Festival spirit.

My partner, Andre was actually able to bring and take the phone out for a spin during the Xiaomi Fan Festival, and he got some reactions from other attendees of the event, but let's save that story for later.

Then underneath the phone, you'll see the rest of the accessories, such as the USB-C cable and the 120W HyperCharge. Gladly, Xiaomi has been including 120W charging since its recent predecessor, and you can't normally find it in midrange phones from competitors.

On paper, it says this can juice up the phone in just almost 20 minutes which would really be impressive.

First Impressions  Out of the box, I can't deny that the Redmi Note 13 Pro+5G XFF Edition looks really sleek and stunning. If you're someone who wants a phone that looks premium and catches attention, then this phone suits you. As for its built, someone who's been using a phone that has curved edges for almost 2 years, I really like how this phone is easy to grip and fits perfectly into my hands.

It is a bit of a shame that the included case is in a solid black color as it does cover up the majority of the device's body.

I've used this phone almost all day for work and some Netflix binge-watching at night. I like how its black panel doesn't get many finger smudges.

Meanwhile, its curved front panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and has an IP68 dust and water resistance, features that are mostly on flagship phones, making it more resistant to drops and scratches.

It also has very thin bezels and noticeably has a very vivid display as it has an AMOLED display. It's been perfect for when I'm catching up on Netflix's Baby Reindeer and doing some quick reel edits.

I also noticed how the audio is fairly clear and loud when watching, thanks to its Dolby Atmos dual speakers.

Browsing through webpages, it's easily noticed how smooth the experience is. This is thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. Every swipe and scroll feels instant and responsive.

Now into its cameras, this phone has a set of triple camera on its back - it has a 200MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. Then up front, this phone has a 16MP selfie shooter housed in a punch hole in the middle.

Andre really got to to test out its cameras during the Xiaomi Fan Fest 2024 at the SM MOA By The Bay to take some photos and videos of performances from SB19 and other guests and artists.

He even shared stories as to how people beside him during the performances were asking what phone he was using since they also noticed how good the photos and videos he took were.

On top of that, we also got some great feedback with the videos we uploaded on TikTok.

Check out these night shots from the Xiaomi Fan Fest.

Specs and Performance  Onto its specs, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G XFF Edition houses a 5,000 mAh battery and a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 - Ultra processor. It comes in two RAM and storage options: 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB variants. The one we have is the 12GB+512GB variant which is definitely the option to pick if you're like me who likes to save a lot of photos.  The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is running on MIUI 14 on top of Android 13 and not the newer HyperOS which ships out on their flagship options. That might concern some folks who're looking into this which is understandable considering we'd all want to get the latest OS on our new smartphone purchase.

However, it will likely be just a matter of time before this gets an update, especially since it's predecessor, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, has already received OTA updates of HyperOS.

Considering all the features I've experienced so far, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G XFF Edition excels in delivering a premium smartphone experience at great value.  From its striking limited edition design and impressive camera capabilities to its powerful performance and user-friendly interface, it stands out as a limited marvel of technology, catering to Xiaomi fans, tech enthusiasts, and everyday users alike. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G XFF Limited Edition in Mystic Silver is priced at PhP 23,999 and you can get it on Xiaomi’s official TikTok shop, Shopee and Lazada pages.
