Orange Magazine marked its 15th anniversary on July 1, 2025, with a celebration at Timezone, Ayala Malls Feliz. Since its official launch in 2010, the platform has evolved from the bold vision of its founder into a dynamic and influential digital hub, reflecting its remarkable journey in the ever-changing media landscape.
Founded by Jessie Bunyi Villanueva, popularly known as Jeman, Orange Magazine was born out of a deep passion for print media and a keen understanding of the internet’s potential. A former tabloid correspondent and promotions coordinator for various print publications, Jeman saw an opportunity to redefine how media content could be produced and consumed.
“I’ve always wanted to have my own magazine—one where I could publish any kind of content that resonates with me, without being told what I can or can’t feature,” Jeman shared, reflecting on the inspiration behind Orange Magazine.
The name "Orange" was chosen intentionally. As Jeman explains, orange symbolizes freshness, relevance, and truth. It’s the color of dawn, representing a new day and a fresh start. This philosophy shaped the magazine’s early focus on “fresh elements” like the latest fashion, trending topics, and the most exciting entertainment personalities.
From the outset, Jeman made a strategic and forward-thinking decision to go fully digital. At a time when online platforms were beginning to dominate, he recognized the internet’s potential to make content more accessible, easier to promote through social media, and more attractive to advertisers and sponsors.
Orange Magazine was designed to appeal to “everyone who knows how to use the internet”—a broad demographic reached without compromising content integrity. The platform maintained a commitment to family-friendly, engaging stories, steering clear of explicit material to cater to its diverse readership, including teens.
The publication quickly gained attention, showcasing a wide array of local and international personalities. Featured artists have included K-Pop groups such as One Way, 2AM, and Jay Park; international acts like Westlife, 30 Seconds to Mars, Bruno Mars, and Melanie Chisholm (aka Sporty Spice); as well as Filipino icons like Christian Bautista, Anne Curtis-Smith, Jessa Zaragoza, Gloc-9, Glaiza De Castro, Rhian Ramos, The Itchyworms, members of the Philippine Azkals, Beautéderm CEO Rea Anicoche Tan, and Senator Gringo Honasan, among many others.
To date, Orange Magazine has achieved an impressive digital footprint, with 7.3 million reach on Facebook, 3.8 million on TikTok, 1.8 million on Instagram, and 41.2 million views on YouTube. Its success is rooted in a commitment to engaging content and exciting contests that keep its followers coming back.
While Jeman continues to serve as the online publisher and editor-in-chief, the magazine’s continued growth is also credited to its passionate and creative team, who ensure that Orange Magazine consistently delivers fresh and relevant content. Their collaborative efforts embody the spirit that has sustained the platform for 15 years.
“I started by covering events for Orange Magazine. Now, thanks to them, I’ve worked with my dream brands and even traveled abroad. It’s truly been a blessing,” shared Kister Morata, Jeman’s business partner and fellow content creator.
“Jeman built a strong foundation, but the evolution of Orange Magazine has been a collective effort. It’s inspiring to be part of a platform that never stops growing.”
That spirit of innovation remains strong across the team. Under Jeman’s leadership, Team Orange continually explores new ways to engage its audience, from experimenting with emerging social media formats to launching interactive features.
“When I joined, I was immediately struck by the energy and openness to new ideas,” said content creator Sharmaine Rodriguez. “It’s a place where you can really help shape the narrative—and seeing our work connect with thousands of readers is incredibly rewarding.”
As Orange Magazine celebrates its 15th anniversary, it stands as a proud pioneer of digital media in the Philippines. Staying true to its founding principles of freshness, relevance, and truth, the platform looks ahead to even greater innovation and deeper engagement with its growing community.
