Did We Just Spot the HUAWEI MateBook Fold in the Philippines?

We might have just seen the first public sighting of the HUAWEI MateBook Fold in the Philippines.

Back when the first tri fold phone, the HUAWEI Mate XT, launched in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year, I remember chatting with one of their executives. He mentioned that a modular laptop or tablet concept was something they were exploring.

Fast forward to today, the MateBook Fold is already official in China. And during last night’s HUAWEI Innovative Product Launch for the nova 14 Series and the MatePad 12 X 2026, I happened to notice someone behind us carrying something that looked exactly like it.

I was honestly stunned. From our table, I saw this guy holding a massive display, then casually folding it in half. I caught a glimpse of the HUAWEI logo, so it was definitely one of their devices but it also looked like what I saw in the images online.

I even snapped a photo of what looked like a separate keyboard, which instantly reminded me of that modular concept we talked about months ago.

From what I’ve read online about the MateBook Fold, the keyboard works even when detached, letting users fully utilize the laptop’s 18-inch unfolded display.

They were deep in conversation so I couldn’t ask about it, but the moment felt surreal.

Whether or not that unit was the MateBook Fold, or if it’s coming to the Philippines, one thing’s clear: HUAWEI is unstoppable, pushing the industry in bold new directions. From tri-fold smartphones to foldable hybrid laptops, if this is a sign of what’s coming, the future of computing is about to get exciting.
