The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) announces the Gawad Alunig x Dalumat (GAxD) campaign - a short-form video and photo essay competition that celebrates Filipinos spotlighting local innovations.
GAxD 2025
Launched in 2022, the GAxD campaign aims to raise awareness of Filipino-developed technologies while showcasing the creative potential of individuals. The fourth edition stands out by emphasizing science visual storytelling through creative advertising.
This year, Gawad Alunig invites participants to turn underrated narratives into compelling short-form videos. Entries must be three and a half minutes or less and highlight stories that leave an alunig, or resonating impact, inspiring communities to support Filipino innovations.
Meanwhile, Gawad Dalumat uses the power of photo essays to explore the uniqueness of local inventions. Entries must include four to six frames and celebrate profound thinking, or dalumat, that sparks curiosity and appreciation for local ingenuity.
Prizes:
- Gawad Alunig: Grand prize PHP 75,000; first runner-up PHP 50,000; three honorable mentions PHP 25,000 each; People’s Choice Award PHP 20,000.
- Gawad Dalumat: Grand prize PHP 60,000; two first runner-ups PHP 25,000 each; three Best Innovation Stories PHP 20,000 each; People’s Choice Award PHP 10,000.
Entries for the GAxD campaign can be sourced from local universities, research institutions, individual inventors, and startups.
Technologies featured must not be included in DOST-TAPI’s list (https://bit.ly/TAPI-AssistedTechs). This provides storytellers the opportunity to connect new or emerging innovators with DOST-TAPI and its programs.
