HONOR 600 Review: Slim, Stylish, Powerful, Beyond AI Gimmicks

The HONOR 600 feels like one of those phones that blurs the line between midrange and flagship, not by chasing raw specs alone, but by heavily focusing on software features and the overall user experience.

What I Liked

  • Fun and improved AI image to video features
  • Smooth and fast everyday performance
  • Slim design despite a huge battery
  • Good main camera with decent zoom

What Can Be Improved

  • AI results can be inconsistent
  • Lacking dedicated telephoto lens

AI Features: This is where it gets interesting

HONOR really doubled down on AI here, especially with its image to video tools. Compared to the previous HONOR 400, the jump is pretty noticeable. Before, you were mostly just feeding images into the system and hoping for something usable. Now, you can actually write prompts and guide the AI toward the kind of result you want.

And yes, like most AI tools today, results can be inconsistent. In my experience, it misses more often than it hits. But when it works, it really works. You can generate surprisingly convincing clips or hilarious content that almost feels like social media bait.

HONOR 600 AI Image to video Prompt

One example I tried was turning a casual clip into a scenario where it looked like MrBeast was in the Philippines. It ended up getting people in the comments and messages genuinely asking if he was actually here. Honestly, I did not even think it looked convincing enough at first, but apparently it fooled quite a few people.

So while it is not perfect, it is definitely entertaining and, more importantly, usable in actual content creation workflows. Although thinking about it now, that also makes it a little scary when used irresponsibly.

Content Creation Potential

After spending more time with it, this is where the HONOR 600 really starts making sense as a creator tool. Combined with your own footage and proper editing, this becomes a practical tool for quick social media content.

Do take note that this is currently under a trial period. There will be a cap on the number of videos you can generate, and a fee will eventually be introduced once the trial ends.

But there are also other AI-powered features here that may actually be more useful in the long run. There’s AI Eraser, which intelligently removes objects from images; AI Upscale, which improves image quality for low-resolution photos; AI Outpainting, which expands images by generating additional surrounding elements; and AI Cutout, which lets you isolate subjects, change backgrounds, move subjects into another image, and more.

HONOR 600 Gold

The good thing is these features do not currently have a trial cap. Based on my experience with other smartphone brands, HONOR honestly has one of the better executions of these AI tools compared to brands offering similar capabilities. And again, these are probably the features that would be genuinely useful for a lot of people, myself included.

Performance

Under the hood, the HONOR 600 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, and performance is honestly solid. Everything feels fast, smooth, and responsive in day to day use.

It gives off the feels of an older flagship where everything just flows effortlessly without needing to think about it. For a midrange device, that is already a huge win. Realistically, not everyone needs the latest and most powerful chipset anymore. For most users, this level of performance is more than enough. Personally, if this ended up being my daily phone, I would be perfectly fine with it.

Design, Display, and Battery

Design-wise, the HONOR 600 has also been getting a lot of attention because of how it looks. One of the most common comments I kept seeing was that it “looks like an iPhone,” which honestly is not hard to understand, especially with the orange color variant. That version really leans into that familiar premium aesthetic.

At the same time though, HONOR still managed to give it some identity of its own. Personally, I prefer the gold color we have here since it feels a bit more unique and classy, but I can also see why a lot of people would gravitate toward the orange option.

Either way, the phone looks clean, feels premium, and what really surprised me was how slim it is.

Because somehow, HONOR managed to fit a massive 7000mAh battery inside this thin body. Honestly, you would never guess it just by holding the phone. It is genuinely impressive how they kept the device this sleek while packing that much battery capacity.

HONOR 600 Display

What you'd mostly be looking into though is the 6.57-inch display which is the exact same resolution (2728x1264px) of the previous generation. it looks great, feels great and I appreciate that it's not a curved.

Camera

While we already talked a lot about the AI features that make use of the camera, the camera hardware itself on the HONOR 600 is also worth mentioning. It packs a 200MP main sensor, and there is definitely no shortage of detail in the shots it captures.

Image tuning differ among smartphone brands and their series, and with HONOR, a characteristic I've noticed is the sharpening and boosted saturation. Here, it doesn't look like images that would be taken with a camera but rather, more of a good smartphone, and the phone produces pleasing results.

Interestingly, even without a dedicated telephoto lens on the non-Pro variant, the main sensor handles zooming surprisingly well. You can comfortably get usable shots at around 4x to 5x, even in dimmer lighting conditions.

Of course, do not expect periscope-level zoom performance, but for normal everyday zooming, I was genuinely impressed.

That said, there is still a noticeable gap in quality once you switch to the ultrawide camera, which is expected given the lower resolution sensor. Thankfully, HONOR’s image processing does try its best to keep the look and color consistency balanced with the main camera.

In low light, the phone also performed quite well. In fact, this was the device we used to cover the Miss Universe Philippines coronation night. We were taking photos of beauty queens from quite a distance, and honestly, the results were better than expected. At that range, the phone still managed to do them justice. Although I really wished it had a bit more reach, which is something you can get on the Pro variant, albeit at a much higher price.

Final Thoughts

AI gimmicks aside, the HONOR 600 is a solid-performing smartphone. It is fast, has a nice display, and offers a good set of cameras for everyday content creation. The design, especially considering the battery capacity, and the overall build quality are also worth acknowledging.

Now, with the addition of its AI features, in the hands of the right people, this can genuinely become a powerful creative tool. Truthfully though, the AI features alone are probably not enough reason to buy the phone. But when paired with the overall experience, they do help make the HONOR 600 feel more unique in an increasingly crowded midrange market.

With current smartphones continuously increasing in price, HONOR deserves some recognition for keeping the price jump relatively minimal compared to the previous generation. The upgrade from the HONOR 400 may not feel that significant, so it is probably not worth upgrading just yet. But if you are entering the ecosystem for the first time, I would say the HONOR 600 is the better choice.
