Qualcomm is gearing up for the release their latest flagship mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The reveal is set at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit 2024 scheduled for October 21 to 23 in Maui, Hawaii.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 promises significant upgrades with its custom Oryon CPU cores built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm node. Departing from the previous 1 + 3 + 4 setup, this chip will feature a 2 + 6 core configuration, omitting efficiency cores.
The two high-performance cores are expected to clock at an impressive 4GHz and deliver stellar performance in both single-core and multi-core Geekbench tests.
Qualcomm is also set to enhance the GPU architecture of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, incorporating improved cache and memory compression technologies to elevate overall performance.
Leaks suggest the chipset can sustain demanding gaming sessions like Genshin Impact smoothly for up to 45 minutes.
Some of the first smartphones expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are the Xiaomi 15 series and Samsung Galaxy S25 Series. OnePlus, iQOO are also anticipated to power their flagship line, the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 with Qualcomm's upcoming chip.
