Tara, VALO! Riot PH celebrates 5 years of VALORANT with Pinoy players

VALORANT turns five this year, and Riot Games Philippines is celebrating by honoring the players and communities that helped shape its local scene.

From June to July 2025, the anniversary rolls out a mix of online and on-ground events. These showcase the game’s impact on Filipino culture—through art, music, storytelling, and community expression.

Launched as “Project A” during the height of the pandemic, VALORANT quickly became one of the world’s most iconic tactical shooters. It now has over 35 million monthly players and 27 Agents from 21 countries.

After its record-breaking 2024 finale in Seoul—peaking at 9.1 million concurrent viewers and 44.3 million unique viewers—VALORANT became the most-watched FPS esport globally.

In five years, it’s earned top honors: Best Esports Game at The Game Awards (2022 and 2023), Esports Game of the Year in 2024, and a Sports Emmy nomination in 2025. Locally, it won Esports Game Title of the Year at the 2024 Philippine Esports Awards.

The game also hit key milestones with its console launch on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, and the exclusive release of VALORANT Mobile in China in April 2025.

In the Philippines, VALORANT has grown into more than a game. It's a shared experience. A platform where Filipino talent continues to rise. From Team Secret’s global runs to NAOS placing second in Challengers, and local players like PatMen joining powerhouse teams like Paper Rex—it’s clear the scene is thriving.

The fifth anniversary asks a simple but powerful question: “Bakit VALORANT?”

It began on June 2 with a tribute video packed with gameplay highlights, art, and community memories. Next: Humans of VALORANT, a docuseries on everyday players, followed by creator features on Damods, Razzie, and Amara.

On-ground, the celebration lights up Metro Manila. Jappy Agoncillo leads a mural takeover, with the largest at Tenement Basketball Court in Taguig. VALORANT even hits the streets with Jeepney Karaokes—classic jeepneys turned into mobile karaoke booths.

“This is a thank-you to every Filipino gamer,” said VALORANT PH Brand Manager Jason Roberto. “They’re not just part of the story—they are the story.”
