The MacBook Air has long held the title of Apple's best-selling MacBook, but that position could soon face a serious challenge.
According to first-quarter shipment figures from market intelligence firm IDC, as reported by TechCrunch, the newly launched MacBook Neo is seeing impressive momentum in the market. The report estimates that Apple shipped around 1.1 million units of the MacBook Neo during the quarter, surpassing the MacBook Air M5's estimated 900,000 units.
Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro lineup featuring the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips recorded approximately 550,000 shipments during the same period.
The strong performance of the MacBook Neo suggests that consumers are responding well to its combination of features, pricing, and positioning within Apple's lineup. While the MacBook Air remains one of Apple's most popular laptops, the latest figures indicate that the gap between the two models may be narrowing faster than expected.
Here in the Philippines, we've also seen considerable interest in the device, with many of our friends and readers asking for our thoughts on the MacBook Neo. Much of that interest appears to stem from its balance of performance, portability, and affordability.
Will the MacBook Neo eventually overtake the MacBook Air as Apple's best-selling Mac? Only time will tell, but the early numbers certainly make the competition worth watching.
