Nintendo has officially unveiled The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake during the latest Nintendo Direct 2026 presentation, bringing one of the most beloved games of all time to the Nintendo Switch 2 with a complete modern overhaul.
Based on the debut trailer, this appears to be far more than a simple remaster. Nintendo showcased fully rebuilt visuals, reimagined environments, updated character models, and cinematic storytelling that suggest the game has been remade from the ground up.

One of the biggest surprises from the reveal was the inclusion of narrated story sequences and voice acting. While Nintendo has yet to confirm whether the entire game will feature full voice acting or only select cues, the trailer offered a glimpse of a more cinematic approach to storytelling than fans have seen before in Ocarina of Time.
The music also received a major upgrade. The iconic soundtrack appears to have been re-recorded with a full orchestral arrangement, adding even more emotion and scale to the adventure across Hyrule.
Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games ever made, influencing countless action-adventure titles that followed. The remake aims to preserve the magic of the original while introducing it to a new generation of players on Nintendo's latest hardware.
