Alibaba introduced Qwen Intelligence at the Apsara Conference in Hangzhou, China, a full-stack agentic AI solution designed specifically for smartphones. The platform gives phone makers access to mobile-optimized Qwen models and ready-to-use AI agents that can understand requests, plan tasks, and perform actions across different apps.
HONOR is the first smartphone maker to adopt Qwen Intelligence, with the two companies working together on AI models and solutions for next-generation smartphones. The upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series, set to launch on September 28 and HONOR Robot Phone, will be among the first devices to feature the technology.

Three AI agents for smartphones
The first version of Qwen Intelligence includes three agents designed to handle planning, tasks, and content creation.
The Mobile Planner Agent handles planning and task decomposition. For example, a request to arrange a business trip can be broken down into booking flights and hotels, adding calendar events, and creating an itinerary. It can also adjust plans when situations change, such as a canceled flight.
The Mobile-Use Agent can perform actions across different apps using an API-first approach with GUI fallback. Alibaba says the system is designed with security and privacy controls to help complete tasks safely.
Meanwhile, the Mobile Creative Agent is optimized for smartphone-based content creation, including image generation and editing.
Alibaba also plans to add features such as personalized memory, proactive assistance, multimodal interaction, and additional domain-specific agents through ecosystem partnerships.
A platform built for mobile devices
Qwen Intelligence uses a three-layer architecture.
At the foundation is a Qwen-based model optimized specifically for mobile scenarios. The platform layer provides tools for model deployment, customization, tool management, and evaluation, while coordinating device and cloud resources based on performance, latency, and cost.
The top layer consists of ready-to-use agents designed for specific tasks and industries.
Smartphone manufacturers can use the complete platform or select individual components depending on their needs.
Working with HONOR on an agentic OS
Alibaba and HONOR are also working on domain-specific models and solutions that combine Qwen Intelligence with HONOR's MagicOS.
The companies aim to move AI smartphones beyond simply responding to commands toward devices that can proactively assist users and complete more complex tasks.
According to Alibaba, HONOR's AI smartphones powered by the architecture can achieve task accuracy of up to 91.8% and orchestrate workflows involving more than 100 steps.
The HONOR Magic9 Series is scheduled to launch on September 28, with the HONOR Robot Phone also set to incorporate Qwen Intelligence.
