Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) has been tapped by Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) as a regional training hub for Body, Paint, and Estimation (BPE) programs for Toyota affiliates across Asia.
The program, initiated under Toyota Motor Corporation’s global direction, aims to standardize after-sales skills and training across markets based on Toyota’s competency standards.
TMP hosted its first BPE regional training from September 7 to 18 at its head office and manufacturing plant in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. Four Body Repair Instructors from Toyota affiliates in Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Pakistan took part in lectures and hands-on exercises led by Filipino TMP instructors.
TMA selected TMP following an assessment of its training capabilities, recognizing the expertise of its instructors as well as its facilities and equipment.
The regional program is scheduled to run until 2029, with TMP set to conduct three training courses in its first year for trainees from Toyota affiliates across Asia.
TMP’s BPE team has also earned two global Toyota certifications this year in Paint Instructor Course Step 1 and Estimation Instructor Course Step 1. Additional training programs are lined up through 2027.
The initiative adds to TMP’s recent achievements in regional skills development, following its Filipino line team’s six-medal sweep at the Toyota 2026 Asia Pacific Skills Contest in August.
