realme 15 Pro First Impressions: A Surprising Travel Companion

Preparing to gather my thoughts for the realme 15 Pro 5G review, I decided to bring it with me on a trip to Baguio City - and the experience honestly caught me by surprise. From its camera to its battery and size, this phone felt like a solid travel buddy.

Here are my first impressions.

Camera

I’ll be honest, when I first checked the camera specs of the realme 15 Pro, I wasn’t all that impressed. But the actual shooting experience was different.

The biggest difference lies in the image quality, especially the colors. Most smartphones tend to oversaturate and push artificial vibrance. The 15 Pro doesn’t. Instead, the photos come out more neutral and closer to reality. That subtle, natural look made my shots feel like real memories. It was perfect for what I wanted during the trip.

Like past Pro variants, this one doesn’t have a dedicated telephoto lens (reserved for the Pro+ models, which sadly won’t be part of this series). Even so, the zoom range is still pretty usable. Most of my shots were on 2x zoom, and you honestly wouldn’t notice it was digital. I’d say it stays acceptable up to around 3x before things start looking soft or pixelated.

These are shots that are mostly 2x (44mm) beyond.

There’s also a color toggle between “Vibrant” and “Crisp.” Once I discovered it, I stuck with Crisp since it gave me that more accurate, natural tone.

Design

The design moves away from realme’s more experimental layouts and goes for a cleaner, more traditional smartphone look. I actually like it. It’s slim enough to hold securely in one hand when shooting, yet tall enough to enjoy content on its display.

It’s also compact enough to slip easily into my pocket, which made carrying it around on the trip effortless.

Battery life

This is where things got really impressive. The realme 15 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery - which is wild considering how slim it feels.

And it’s not just numbers on paper. During the trip, I switched between Wi-Fi and mobile data, took a lot of photos, and streamed YouTube videos. After two full days, I still had 50% battery left. That’s insane endurance, and honestly the first time I’ve experienced this kind of staying power on a phone.

To test it further, I drained it down to 2% and used my 10,000mAh Momax power bank. Normally, that’s enough to fully charge most phones twice. But here, it only got the 15 Pro up to 95%. That really shows just how big this battery is.

Conclusion

The realme 15 Pro 5G might not look like a spec monster at first glance, but using it on an actual trip proved otherwise. Between its surprisingly natural camera, slim but practical design, and insane battery life, it’s shaping up to be one of the most reliable travel companions I’ve tried in a while. I’d even go as far as saying this could be the phone I’ll bring on my next trip.

A full review is coming in the next few days, so stay tuned.
